SPARK

Amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to lose sight of the simple yet profound connections that truly matter. However, on a special evening that began with a simple idea, something wondrous unfolded, reminding us all of the beauty of human connection.

Guided by the vision of fostering deeper bonds beyond merepleasantries, we embarked on a heartfelt journey alongside Father Ramon, the KAYC team, and our cherished members of the SEEKERS group. Together, we crafted an evening brimming with love, laughter, and inspiration.

Nestled in the cosy ambiance of Rumah Kopi, in Gala City, the warmth of Anju’s welcome set the tone for what was to come. With Father Ramon’s uplifting prayer invoking God’s boundless love, our hearts opened wide.

The joyous spirit of the evening was sparked by Hilda’s fun-filled ice-breaking games. Through “aGAPE,” we found ourselves exchanging affirmations and smiles, breaking down barriers with each gaze and word shared. Laughter echoed as we embraced our silly sides in a playful challenge, rewarded with the sweet delight of gula apong ice cream.

As we gathered around hearty meals, the air buzzed with song dedications, each melody a testament to the unique bond shared between friends. Amidst bites of delicious food, conversations flowed effortlessly, fueled by thought-provoking prompts that touched on faith, life, and love through the “Dinner Conversation” activity. Here, everyone picked several slips of paper that became their conversation starters. This sparked many more buzzing conversations going beyond the daily ramblings and more focused on self-reflection, nurturing our spiritual growth and our understanding and appreciation for one’s self and one another.

Father Ramon’s poignant reflection on the essence of Saint Valentine’s Day resonated deeply, weaving threads of love and gratitude into the fabric of our gathering. With Martina McBride’s “My Valentine” serenading our hearts, we penned words of affirmation on cards, a tangible expression of our appreciation for one another.  And as our little sparks of smiles and sharings keep coming, flames of bonding and purely loving rooted in God keep growing, as the song “Pass It On” keeps playing. “It only takes a spark to get the fire going. And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love….”

And just when we thought the evening could not get any sweeter, a surprise awaited to celebrate Father Ramon’s birthday, a gesture that encapsulated the warmth and camaraderie shared amongst us.

As the night drew to a close, amidst the flickering glow of candles and the gentle hum of conversation, I could not help but feel a sense of profound gratitude. For in that fleeting moment, surrounded by kindred spirits, I realised that the true beauty of life lies in the precious connections we forge along the way. And as we parted ways, hearts aglow with newfound warmth, I knew that this evening would forever remain etched in the tapestry of our memories, a beacon of light guiding us on our journey ahead. That night, as I lay my head to rest, I could feel amber sparks flaming in my heart with love and peace, leading me to pray, “O dear Lord, only source of love deep and true, thank you for turning our sparks into flame. Love you!
