“RECONNECT!” KYCS Christmas 2025 Get-Together 🎄
On 20 December 2025, Christian students from different schools gathered at ACCPC for a CHRISTmas gathering entitled “RECONNECT!” … KYCS Christmas 2025 Get-Together. It has been an evening filled with joy, faith, friendship, and meaningful encounters.
Organised by Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Commission (KAYC) together with Kuching Young Catholic Students (KYCS), the gathering was open to all YCS groups and other Christian/Catholic school clubs such as ISCF and CYM. With the theme “RECONNECT… with God, with one another, with YCS values in the spirit of Christmas!”, the event aimed to bring students together to celebrate Christmas as one body in Christ.
A Christ-Centered Evening
The evening began at 5:00 PM with registration and a lively icebreaker, helping students from different schools to get to know one another. This was followed by a Holy Mass presided by Fr Galvin, grounding the entire gathering in prayer and thanksgiving as we celebrated the coming of Christ.
After Mass, students broke into small groups for sharing and activities inspired by the Christmas season, guided by the YCS spirituality of See–Judge–Act. Through these questions, students were invited to reflect on their lived experiences (See), discern them in the light of faith (Judge), and respond with concrete actions (Act):
- What are you grateful for as the year comes to an end?
- Which character in the Christmas story do you relate to most (Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, etc.)?

- If you could give one non-material gift (such as patience or kindness) what would it be, and to whom?
These moments allowed students to reflect, listen, and grow together in faith and self-awareness.
Food, Fun & Festive Joy
The night continued with a YCS-style prayer before meals, followed by a lively potluck dinner. At around 7:30 pm, Archbishop Simon joined the students to share a short message and give his blessing, a very special moment for all. Right after the blessing, everyone gathered for a group photo, capturing a beautiful moment of unity and joy among young people from different schools.
The atmosphere grew even more festive with Christmas carols and inter-school games.
A special highlight was the thoughtful gesture by a student from SJIS, who shared her artistic talent by hand-drawing Christmas cards, which were given out during the event, a simple yet heartfelt expression of creativity and love.

A Gift Exchange with a Deeper Meaning
The evening also included a fun Christmas gift exchange. Not everyone prepared a gift, but everyone had a chance to receive one. Some students brought multiple gifts, while others received none… a gentle reminder that life isn’t always equal, we do not always receive according to what we give. Yet Christmas teaches us that the greatest gift is not something we exchange, but Someone we receive, Jesus Christ Himself, who is always with us. Sometimes giving can be even more rewarding than receiving.
Gratitude & Sending Forth
The evening concluded with a closing prayer led by Fr Ramon, sending everyone forth renewed in faith and friendship. Many stayed on to take photos and continue fellowship, cherishing the memories made together.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the students and young leaders who made KYCS RECONNECT! possible. Special thanks to:
